Computer Repair Alabama

Why do my friends have faulty computer and I'm the one sitting at home fixing them while they are out on the town?

To be fair the wife is out tonight so I'm watching the kids / fixing pc's so I'm not as mad as you first thought.

However I thought I would make good use of this time now the kids are in bed to talk about the simple fixes that you can do yourself and safe a fortune in repair bills.

Firstly I fixed over 200 computers last year and 98 percent of these problems were viruses and spy-ware that any home user could fix with a couple of pointers.

Some of the people who owned there PC's thought there computers were getting slower as they were getting older, this is because the poor performance came on gradually and the computer owners did not know what to look out for.

One of the biggest problems is spyware, people automatically think spyware is visa card theft or to steal your name and address from your computer, although this can be the case, this actually very rare in comparison to marketing companies.

Let me explain, many web sites offer free games or chartroom add-ons and many more free programs that people think they need to download, problem is that people never read the small print, and in the small print there is text somewhere telling you that your web browsing habits are logged and sent to a 3rd party.

This is so that marketing companies can sell this info to retail companies, and they build statistics that can tell that town A are looking for designer shoes or Town B is looking for fridges and cookers, this is big business but a real pain to you.

Think about it, is you have 4 or 5 programs sending your online browsing habits somewhere, this is using your broadband bandwidth which means less for you, think about it you pay for it and companies are hijacking it from right under your nose.

So what do you do about it?

This is where your lack of experience shows through, chances are your computer came with security spyware and virus-ware programmes pre installed with a trial period that you ended up purchasing or you installed a free anti virus product, ring any bells.

One major thing you don't ever do is to install 2 ant virus programs on the same computer as the both try to scan your files at the same time causing your computer to almost stop or run at a snails pace.

The next thing you need to check is your running processes, to do this press "Ctrl" and "Alt" and "Delete" keys at the same time, a window will popup, this is called your task manager, click on the processes tab, then tick the box at the bottom "Show processes from all users".

Now comes the fun part, you need to take the file name under the "Image Name" column and type it into your favourite search engine this will tell you if you have any suspicious programs running on your computer, write down the name of any problem files, then type the file name into your search engine of choice followed by remove and forum.

Ripper.exe removal forum

This will help you find the fastest way to remove any suspicious programs, or you may find by emailing your anti-virus or anti-spyware vendor, they may have a free fix for you already.
